Advanced Open Water Diver course description
For more information on the Advanced Open Water Diver course, read the description below.
The Advanced Open Water Diver course introduces you to new and special areas in diving and increases your maximum diving depth to more than 20 meters!
Becoming an Advanced Open Water Diver is a great adventure and a lot of fun! The course covers the following topics:
- How to safely dive down to more than 20 meters
- How to navigate underwater using instruments and your surroundings
- How to lead a buddy team underwater
- Planning your dives
- Gaining more experience during the 5-course dives
- How to improve your buoyancy
The course is split into three sections. Deep diving, underwater navigation, and other specialty dives. The first two are mandatory but you can choose the last one freely together with your dive instructor.
The best part: All dives also count towards your specialty course certifications of the chosen topics! Whichever you choose, each section of the Advanced Open Water Diver course will teach you more about diving and help you become a better scuba diver.
Deep diving
During the deep diving specialty dives, you will dive down to 30 meters for the first time.
This is one of the coolest experiences you will ever make so enjoy it! Everything feels different at depth. Besides exploring new regions you have never been to underwater, you and your instructor will answer the following questions together:
- What’s different about diving deeper?
- What is nitrogen narcosis?
- How do colors and perception change at depth?
- How do we handle our instruments on a deep dive?
Also check out the more advanced Deep Diver specialty.
Underwater Navigation
In this section, you practice navigating underwater using your natural surroundings and various instruments.
We cover the following topics:
- Dive computers
- Using an underwater compass
- Patterns underwater
- Finding your course and direction underwater
Check out the even more advanced Underwater Navigator specialty.
Better Buoyancy
Last but not least, this course will improve your buoyancy even further and make sure you have excellent trim in the water.
Your dive instructor will evaluate your diving skills during and after the course. If you passed all the practical skills you will become a certified Advanced Open Water Diver!
Congratulations!
Your dive instructor evaluates your skills during and after the course. Once you passed all the course modules, diving practice, and theory tests, you will become a certified Advanced Open Water Diver!
