Foldable snorkels can easily be stored away in a BCD or drysuit pocket while diving so they don't get entangled in your scuba gear.
Another advantage is that the snorkel won't dangle in your face or in front of your camera underwater.
For snorkelers, this feature isn't as necessary, however, such snorkels can often be packed very small and light.

Cressi’s Alpha Ultra Dry foldable snorkel is a great budget option that has a comfortable fit.
Unlike other Cressi snorkels, this one is made with scuba divers in mind and has a much smaller size (not talking about the length).
Since it’s foldable, it can be stored away super easily and fits into any BCD or wetsuit pocket underwater. It is also latex-free which is a big plus for many divers.
The mouthpiece is a little larger than on my Tusa snorkel, however, I think it is just as good.
Like pretty much all Cressi scuba gear, it comes in dozens of colors so pick what suits your style (have I mentioned yet that I love the black one? 😎 ).
I am not sold on the mask clip, to be honest, as I find it to be on the more fragile side. If you encounter heavy surface currents or bigger waves, it might come loose.
Last but not least, some of the design options don’t convince me. I love the blue-black one, but all the transparent ones are pretty awful, in my opinion.
Sure, it isn’t as bad as the Cressi America or Gringo ones or the Mares Ergo Flex…but nowhere near the Oceanic Ultra Dry, let alone the gorgeous Atomic Aquatics V2.
Conclusion
The Cressi Ultra Alpha Dry is a great foldable snorkel for beginners and experienced divers and snorkelers alike.
While the splashguard is not as good as the one of the Cressi Supernova, it is much more suited for scuba diving as it can easily be stored away and won’t be in your way underwater.
