Bare Reactive 7mm - Honest Review & Test 2024

First Impression

The Bare Reactive is the warmest and most comfortable 7mm wetsuit for coldwater diving that you can buy right now.

Bare is an absolute premium scuba brand and all their wetsuits (and drysuits) are top-notch.

There is also a 5mm version for those who don’t dive in real cold water.

The suit is super super warm, made of quality material, and just feels so valuable. I have also tried different Bare drysuits before and they were just the same.

I thought it was really easy to put on and off which cannot be said for all thick 7mm wetsuits out there.

Usually, it’s quite a hassle to get in and out of them…not so with the Bare Reactive 7mm.

It’s like getting into really comfortable skiing underwear or putting on a much thinner wetsuit.

Despite its thickness, the suit is still flexible enough not to restrict your movement underwater or above.

It comes in different versions for men and women which is good thinking on Bare’s part.

What I didn’t like, or rather don’t understand, is the lack of an integrated hood in any 7mm wetsuit.

It is HIGHLY unlikely that anyone wearing a 7mm wetsuit would not need a hood…and since Bare clearly aims at targeting cold water divers, adding a hood would have prevented flushing even more.

Still, the suit itself is amazing value that does come at a steep price tag.

For just a few hundred Euro/Dollar more you can already get cheap drysuits, for example.

But then again, they won’t be the quality Bare ones either.

So ultimately, it is your pick if you are willing to spend more money to get the extra quality and comfort in your 7mm wetsuit over going full drysuit yet.

Conclusion

The Bare Reactive 7mm is a great but pricey wetsuit for divers who want the best quality. I have yet to find something really wrong with it and besides the price point my only complaint would be the lack of an integrated hood.
