Night diving is a lot of fun! Pretty much every safari trip includes at least one or more night dives and the Night Diver specialty course prepares you for it. It covers the following topics:
- Introduction to night diving
- Dive planning
- Safety guidelines
- Dive equipment for night diving
- Environment and etiquette
Each course module will teach you more about night diving and helps you become a better diver.
Let’s look at each module and what it covers.
Dive Planning
Night dives are very fun and relaxed.
But they do require, planning upfront, knowledge of the environment, and clear communication. We will show you how to get the most out of it.
The planning steps include picking the right dive equipment such as underwater lamps and selecting dive spots that are known to you. We also don’t undertake dives that are too deep.
Environment and Etiquette
Many cool animals and sea creatures are active at night and might only be encountered then.
Octopus, squids, and even manta rays can often be spotted. In order to not disturb them, we need to control our buoyancy perfectly and use the proper scuba fin kicking techniques.
Night Diver Training
It’s time to dive!
There are course options for 2 or 4 dives to complete your night diver training.
Your dive instructor will choose the appropriate maximum depth and dive spot. If you already have your Advanced Open Water Diver certification, the night dives may count towards the specialty certification.
Once you passed all the course modules and the theory test, you will receive your Night Diver specialty certification!
Congratulations!
Your dive instructor evaluates your skills during and after the course. Once you passed all the course modules, diving practice, and theory tests, you will become a certified Night Diver!
